AUGUST MESSAGE
from our Exalted Ruler, Kristine Watson
"Elks Make A Difference"
Members All,
As we approach the end of the summer, we still have a lot going on. We will be wrapping up several community projects this month. We have completed our Christmas in July Giving Tree for Operation Barnabas, and they will be joining us for dinner on Friday, August 7th so we can present everything you have donated to them for the veterans they serve. On Saturday, August 8th we will have our final Summer Reading in the Park event for the children in our community. Finally, on Saturday afternoon August 29th, we will be having the drawing for our Box of Cheer supporting the Army of Hope.
As Elks we work hard to take care of our community through our projects, grants, and fundraising. This is something that makes us all so proud to be Elks! Right now we are in need of some help for ourselves. The flat part of our roof is in need of being replaced. You will soon see our “Raise the Roof” fundraiser activities being promoted at the lodge. It’s going to cost almost $22,000 for this project, so we’re going to need your support. When you see these special events and fundraisers, we hope everyone shows up like you always do for our community. If you would like to make a direct donation, that would also be greatly appreciated.
Our District VP, Becky Spence will have her first Visitation at our lodge on August 1st, and her second Visitation will be at the Jacksonville lodge on August 29th. We will be having our first District Deputy Clinic with our new DD, Alise Taylor-Sindab at the Jacksonville lodge on August 15th at 10 AM. These district sponsored events are great ways to learn about what is going on in our district and engage in fellowship with our fellow Elks from the other lodges in the Northeast District.
I wish you all a happy, healthy month, and may God bless you and your families. I look forward to seeing you at the lodge!
