Elk of the Month - September - Gene Russin

 

Our Elk of the Month for October 2024 is Gene Russin, our wonderful Trivia Host! He has been a loyal Elk since 2007! For quite a number of years now, Gene has generously volunteered his time each month to meticulously research and compile questions that challenge, engage, and entertain us. He regularly introduces new categories that keep the events fresh and exciting. From pop culture to history, there’s always something for everyone! Gene’s commitment to making Trivia Night a success goes well beyond the questions he curates. Through these friendly competitions, Gene has helped strengthen the bonds within our Elk community. Trivia Night has become a staple event where our members look forward to reconnecting and sharing stories. As we celebrate Gene this October, we encourage our members to join us on the third Friday for Trivia Night. Let’s show our appreciation for all his hard work and enjoy an evening filled with fun, learning, and laughter! Thank you, Gene, for your unwavering dedication and for being a shining example of what it means to be an Elk. Keep up the fantastic work!

Elk of the Month - September - Barbara Thompson

Barbara Thompson has been selected as Elk of the Month for September. Since joining our Order in 2019, she has repeatedly demonstrated her dedication to our Lodge and its values. Her positive attitude, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills have al-lowed her to excel in various leadership positions within the Lodge. Barbara’s wealth of knowledge and unique perspective, gained through her experiences, enable her to offer valuable guidance and support to the Exalted Ruler and Committee Chairs she currently works alongside. In the past year, Barbara has taken on the role of Secretary for two essential Committees. She diligently records detailed notes for each meeting and circulates the minutes well in advance, ensuring smooth operations and clear communication. Barbara is also an active member of our Lodge Scholarship Committee, contributing to the selection of deserving candidates for this annual Award. She is always ready to help out, whether in the kitchen on Pork Chop Night or in the social quarters during Bingo. Barbara’s fidelity to our Lodge is truly inspiring to others.

OFFICER OF THE QUARTER - Stuart Williams

 

The Officer of the Quarter is Stuart Williams who serves as our Esteemed Leading Knight! Since assuming office, Stuart has fully committed himself to the role of “Vice President” in the Lodge, has shown an eagerness to learn, and has given his entire support to the Exalted Ruler in the performance of her duties. He consistently demonstrates a ready willingness to roll up his sleeves and help wherever needed. As Harry Anna Chair, Stuart successfully raised $1,380 through a Condo Raffle in April alone! He actively promotes weekly Lodge activi-ties through our Facebook and Instagram accounts. Stuart serves as Secretary for the Board of Directors and is a member of the Lodge Scholarship Committee as well. He regularly assists the grill team on Hamburger Nights with cooking and delivering food. Stuart is consistently friendly, kind, and encouraging toward his fellow of-ficers and members which creates a positive and supportive environment within the Lodge. As a true Elk should, he stands ready to offer aid to those in need, embodying the spirit of Charity which is the motto of his station and the chief virtue of our Order. Well done, Stuart!

 

 

Elk of the Month - August - P.C. Barrett

Our Elks of the Month for August is the friendly, ever-helpful, and generous P.C. Barrett who has been a dedicated member since 2014. Known for her welcoming presence in our Lodge, she routinely sits near the front door and greets her fellow members as they enter. P.C. makes herself readily available when anything needs to get done and is happy to lend her time with no complaints. P.C. consistently volunteers for multiple dinner services each month, not only assisting with food preparation and serving but with kitchen cleanup as well. Additionally, she generously shares her culinary talents by contributing her delicious carrot cake for various special events as needed. P.C. is a team player who collaborates effectively with her fellow members, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie within our Lodge. At all times, she lends her support cheerfully with no expectation of recognition, demonstrating the true selflessness and humility of an Elk. Thanks for all you do, P.D.!

Elk of the Month - July - Bob Edwards

Bob Edwards has been selected as the Elk of the Month for July due to his dedicated service to the Lodge. With 4 years of experience as an Elk, he plays an important role in supporting bartender Helen Cornelius in serving the Members and guests at the Tiki Bar which greatly contributes to its smooth operation. Bob regularly volunteers as a bar back on Wednesday nights and during special events. Furthermore, he is proactive in maintaining the cleanliness of “Paradise Cove” by handling such tasks as taking out the trash and sanitizing the counters without prompting. Additionally, Bob is always willing to assist the Exalted Ruler with setting up for Thursday Lodge and Committee meetings by moving tables and chairs, demonstrating his reliability and team spirit. Despite his invaluable contributions, Bob remains humble and quietly goes about his duties without expecting any praise or recognition in return, embodying the true spirit of selfless service within the Elk community. Congratulations Bob, our newest Elk of the Month!

Elk of the Month - June - Al Williams

Our Elk of the Month for June is Al Williams who is the epitome of Brotherly Love, one of the cardinal virtues of our Order. He is always ready with a warm smile and a hand extended in friendship for everyone he meets. Since becoming a Member in 2017, Al has remained dedicated to spreading the good news about the Elks and our Lodge. He regularly sponsors new Members and continues to mentor them long after their Initiation night. Using his skills as a performer and a DJ on Karaoke Night each month, Al creates a fun and vibrant atmosphere that promotes good fellowship and great attendance. For special services like Mother’s Day, he provides moving, musical selections which give comfort and joy to our Members and their guests. Al’s friendly manner makes him a great ambassador to the public on Bingo Nights when he mans the concession stand for the PER Association. Most importantly, Al is a pillar of support for our Lodge officers, actively participating in business meetings and offering assistance wherever necessary

Officer of the Quarter - Joy Elrod

Congratulations to our Officer of the Quarter, Joy Elrod! Joy truly loves our Lodge!

Joy has served our Lodge well this year as Esteemed Loyal Knight and will continue to serve as Loyal Knight for the upcoming year. Joy serves as our Christmas Tree Committee Chairman and Hospital Visitation Chairman, as well as participating in all our charitable projects and events. She led our art activity for our Kids Art and Music Day this year and has put her artistic skills to work in various other ways at the Lodge. This year, Joy has stepped up to be a vital part of our Friday night kitchen staff, even taking the lead for a Friday night dinner. She has proven time after time that all I need to do is ask for help and she is there, willing and able to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Congratulations, Joy and thank you for your outstanding service to our Lodge.
