April Cornhole Challenge

The Cornhole Challenge, held April 13, helped raise $800 to support Break through T1D. Thanks to Rob Loryea, Loyal Knight for coordinating the event and all the volunteers and players who helped make it a fun and successful event.

Comfort Campaign

Thanks to the generous donations from Members and guests, our Lodge collected 154 stuffed animals during the annual Comfort Campaign to donate to Green Cove Springs Police Department and Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Special Visit!

On Wednesday, April 2, our Lodge had the pleasure of welcoming Geoff Cox, Area 4 representative of the Grand Lodge Public Relations and Marketing Committee and Past State President of Virginia, along with his wife Susan. While in Green Cove Springs visiting friends who are members of our Lodge, they stopped by to enjoy a delicious hamburger, meet members of our District leadership team, and take a tour of our our facility.

Northeast District Golf Tournament

The Northeast District Golf Tournament was held on April 6. Thanks to District Vice President Ed Weston and his team of volunteers, the event was a great success!

Spring Cleaning at The Elks Lodge

On Sunday, House Committee Chair Eric Thorsen and volunteer John Thorsen assembled a new rolling rack to further aid with the organization of decorations. They also temporarily cleared the space so that Clyde Mixon could give the floor a fresh coat of paint on the following day. (See photos below.) On Tuesday, Eric Thorsen and Bar Manager Gale Klopfenstein returned everything to its proper place. Shout-out to everyone who pitched in. It’s looking fantastic!

Bingo News

Our Lodge’s Tuesday night charity bingo continues to support local organizations and the good works they do for our community. This month checks were donated to Forever Young Veterans, Borland Groover colon cancer awareness, and Miriam’s Basket, which provides support to children entering foster care.

Elks Read

On Monday, April 14, Exalted Ruler Jennifer Parker and Inner Guard Sharon Elizabeth visited the Episcopal Chil-dren’s Services GCS Head Start Center to read picture books about Easter and Bunnies to the pre-K students! As part of the visit, each child received their own copy of Max’s Chocolate Chicken by Rosemary Wells, one of the featured books that day. Elks who are interested in volunteering as readers should reach out to the Exalted Ruler for more information.
